2026 Production Manager
$5000 Stipend, working now through early October
Our Production Manager works as a leader of our venues for any technical needs. They organize and operationalize the behind-the-scenes elements of Cannonball to create a smooth experience for artists and a seamless viewing for audiences.
This Job Includes…
Creating and executing production calendars, timelines, and budgets across our 2026 venues (Asian Arts Initiative, Icebox Project Space, and the Box Spring Gallery)
Managing stage manager staffing for all festival productions
Providing regular support to artists regarding technical questions
Planning, staffing and leading load ins and load outs across all venues
Collaborating with Technical Director and Producers to train stage managers and provide artists with production-related information
Meeting with artists as-needed to ensure production needs are being met
Troubleshooting daily technical difficulties throughout the duration of the festival
Assisting with other duties as mutually agreed upon with Producers
Necessary Qualifications:
3+ years of experience as a production manager in a live entertainment setting.
Experience leading load-in and load-out procedures for various technical systems including lighting, sound, projection, rigging and more.
Understanding of QLab for lights, sound and video
Time management skills for multiple concurrent productions.
Consistently practice safe work habits including the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and reporting unsafe situations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with independent artists and stage managers alike.
Preferred Qualifications:
Physically able to complete tasks on levels (low level/kneeling, mid-level/squatting, high-level/standing) and must be able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
Familiarity with the fast-paced nature of a Fringe Festival and touring shows.
Understanding of Circus production including rigging and safety precautions.
Knowledge of Cannonball Festival and enthusiasm for seeing independent artists thrive.

July 11 — Production plan draft due
July 20 — Production plan finalized
July 31 — Production plan locked (staffing, logistics, load-in finalized)
Aug 24 — AAI load-in begins
Aug 31 — Icebox load-in begins
Sept 1 — Load-in + tech begins at Boxspring; techs begin at AAI and Box Spring
Sept 5 — Tech begins at Icebox
Sept 8–27 — Ongoing performances, daily cross-venue production management
Sept 28–29 — Final strike
2026 Technical Directors
$3000 for Icebox Technical Director (Responsible for Icebox Project Space and Box Spring Gallery)
$4000 for Asian Arts Initiative Technical Director (Responsible for AAI Project Space, AAI Black Box Theater and AAI Third Floor)
Both roles working now through early October
Our Technical Directors work in unique venues, juggling a number of diverse productions simultaneously to create unforgettable evenings for our audiences and artists.
(Please note, this job has different expectations than a typical technical director. This role is specifically in charge of technical systems. More details below.)
This Job Includes…
Providing direction and assuming responsibility for lighting, sound, projection, rigging and other technical systems at assigned home venue(s).
Providing technical support to other venues besides home venue when needed and as scheduling permits.
In collaboration with the PM and other TDs, participating in pre-production meetings to ensure all staff are prepared for load-in, load-out, and performances, and all necessary materials and equipment have been secured in advance.
Responsible for designing rep plots, lighting plots & speaker plots and creating necessary rentals lists in collaboration with the Production Manager.
Training Stage Managers on the technical systems of their designated venue during the lead up to the festival, as well as supporting stage managers throughout the run of the festival.
Overseeing and leading all venue load in, strike, and load out, and coordinate with Production Manager to build staff calls
Being available to help troubleshoot technical malfunctions and other issues throughout the festival and on rotation with other Technical Directors.
Supporting strike and rental return as needed through October 1, 2026.
Necessary Qualifications:

Proficiency in QLab for sound, lighting, and projection
Multi-tasking and time management skills for individual and group projects.

Ability to work a varied schedule during the month of September, including nights and weekends.

Sept 1 — Tech rehearsals begin at AAI and Box Spring
Sept 5 — Tech rehearsals begin at Icebox
Sept 8–27 — Performance run support (daily tech rehearsals, maintenance, troubleshooting)
Sept 28–29 — Strike
