Extension Programming: 45 Minutes Before I Die with Mohamed Magdy

  • Asian Arts Initiative (Black Box Theater) 1219 Vine Street Philadelphia, PA, 19107 United States (map)

A young Egyptian man in his mid-twenties collapses onto his bed at the end of a long day.
Yet, instead of rest, he is forced into forty-five minutes of confrontation with everything he has tried to bury.
Memories resurface. Traumas speak. The weight of social expectations and the rigid mold of Eastern masculinity press upon him.
This experimental performance compresses the essence of inner struggle into a raw theatrical journey—where the bed becomes a battlefield, and silence transforms into confession.

"45 Minutes Before I Die" will be a recorded viewing of the live performance, recorded in Cairo, Egypt.

Mohamed Magdy is an Egyptian actor and contemporary dancer with over 15 years of experience in performance arts. Participated in more than 20 performances across physical theater, improvisation, and traditional theater, showcasing creativity and adaptability on stage. Currently learning acting skills at Sharjah Performing Arts Academy.
